Hoquiam Farmers Market Seeks Growers

Posted on September 3, 2009 at 5:08 am (547 social interactions)

Hoquiam, WA - The Hoquiam Farmers Market hosted an open-to-the-public Tailgate Produce Day Saturday, Aug. 29 and we’re now thinking that this should be a regular event!

We had customers waiting expectantly in the parking lot at 8:45, and people came all day long, looking for fresh backyard garden vegetables.

Now, the only downside to this is that we didn’t fill the parking lot with gardeners wanting to sell their goods, and we know for sure that many more of you are out there.

Where else can you find someone actually asking for big zucchini? You’ve already given away as many as your friends will take, so bring ’em over to the Farmers Market on Riverside in Hoquiam. Our customers are also looking for apples, flowers and fresh local eggs. I see apple trees all over town with fruit lying on the ground going to waste, and so many people are wanting to buy them!

Saturday Sept. 5 we will open the parking lot again to anyone who wants to participate. Last week we had fresh from the soil Yellow Finn Potatoes, which certainly aren’t available anywhere else yet!

The Hoquiam Farmers Market is first and foremost a community market, and in tough financial times it makes sense to earn those extra dollars by selling wholesome fresh food.

Manager, The Market on Riverside
