Hoquiam, WA - On Saturday 8/22/09 at about 1:30 am a Hoquiam officer responded to Domino’s, 2605 Simpson Avenue, to begin an investigation of a vehicle theft. The victim told the officer that he delivered pizza for Domino’s and after making a delivery he parked his 1989 Ford Bronco in the parking lot next to the store. He went into the store at 1:00 am and when he came out at 1:30 the Bronco was gone. He told the officer that the vehicle could be started without a key.
While the officer was taking the stolen vehicle report from the victim the Hoquiam fire department was dispatched to a vehicle fire in the 2400 block of Cherry Street. An officer who responded to the scene of the fire notified the officer who was taking the stolen report that the vehicle on fire was the Ford Bronco.

The complainant who called in the report of the fire stated that he was asleep in his home when he heard what sounded like a loud pop out on the street. He looked out the window and saw the vehicle on fire but he did not see anyone near the vehicle or leaving the immediate area.
The fire was mainly contained in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. After the fire was extinguished, fire and police personnel examined the interior of the Bronco but could not determine the cause of the fire. The Bronco was to be examined more thoroughly during the follow-up investigation.
The vehicle was a total loss but the dollar value is not known. At the time of this release there are no suspects and no further information.
