ABERDEEN, Wash. - An inmate fled the City of Aberdeen court room on foot Monday, and was chased by the corrections officer and the Assistant City Attorney. Aberdeen Police Captain John Green tells us the corrections officer fell while chasing the female and injured his elbow, hand, and knee with scrapes and contusions. The female was caught by the Assistant City Attorney Forest Worgum outside the courtroom, in front of city hall.
The suspect had just been given a six day court commit on an unrelated charge. After the next case was called, she fled through the emergency door. Green said the woman was returned to the City of Aberdeen jail and booked on a charge of Escape in the 3rd degree.
The corrections officer was treated for his injuries and returned to work.
