The standoff continues, as does the traffic diversion from the Simpson Avenue bridge to the port industrial route past 22nd street in Hoquiam. Officers from multiple agencies responding to a standoff on Aberdeen Avenue have blocked the road to keep bystanders from a suspect that has fired multiple shots from within the two story house.
Chief Criminal Deputy Steve Shumate with the Grays Harbor County Sheriff's department tells us the suspect fired several shots at the State Patrol's SWAT car after members fired gas into the home earlier today.
Officers from neighboring cities, the county, and the State Patrol have had the home surrounded since shortly after a police officer was wounded this morning while attempting to arrest the 49 year old man with warrants from out of state.
I spoke with the officer, whos name we are not releasing, prior to his transport to Community Hospital, his injuries appeared minor.
A 53 year old woman was arrested at the same home Tuesday night on an outstanding warrant
At this point officers are trying to keep people away from the house, and 22nd street to 29th have been blocked off.
