Special Elections Supported Locally

Montesano, WA - With just over 30% voter turnout for Grays Harbor special elections, both a sales tax increase for Aberdeen, and a fire truck bond in Hoquiam are passing.

Aberdeen's rate increase will add 13 cents to a $100 purchase for the next 6 years, the city is hoping the tax will generate about $600-thousand annualy to support resurfacing city streets.

Hoquiam voters heavily supported a 20-year, $1.2 million levy that will cost about $20 annually for a $100,000 home, with 74% voting yes, the previous levee attempt failed to get the supermajority by only a few votes, with 59.85% voting in favor in May of 2011

Just over 57% of affected voters in Pacific County are supporting an 8.1 million bond for the Naselle-Grays River Valley School District with 62.8% "yes" votes.

With some ballots still in the mail, county auditors will certify the results on the 26th of the month.
