Hoquiam, WA - A Hoquiam man is under investigation for allegedly helping a roomate spy on a neighbor. Deputy Chief Don Wertanen tells us Hoquiam detectives arrested a level I registered sex offender from his apartment in the 2800 block of Simpson Avenue after a neighbor reported finding holes in her ceiling and hearing someone crawling around in the attic space. As she opened the door of her apartment, she saw her downstairs neighbor running towards his own apartment in the early hours of January 31st. Officers contacted the male in the lower apartment about the alleged incident, identified as a 25-year old Hoquiam man. He is a level I registered sex offender. Officers also identified the neighbor’s roommate, a 26-year old Hoquiam man, both denied knowledge of the incident. The 25-year old male was subsequently arrested on a Hoquiam warrant and booked in the Hoquiam Jail. The City Jail is currently open for a warrant sweep. The man was interviewed about the alleged incident and continued to deny any knowledge of complaint.

Hoquiam Detectives continued to investigate the incident to include a polygraph examination of the sex offender and interviewing the roommate. Through continued interviews, detectives learned the sex offender and roommate had allegedly punched holes in the ceiling of the apartment to spy on the female neighbor below for sexual gratification. The 25-year old sex offender was booked into the county jail for the felony charge of Voyeurism; charges are pending on the 26-year old roommate.
