State Route 105 Detours to Single Lane Bridge Over Smith Creek Beginning Today

Raymond, WA - Crews working to replace two bridges on State Route 105 west of Raymond will shift traffic to a temporary detour bridge over Smith Creek Wednesday, Feb. 6.

A temporary signal will alternate single-lane traffic across the detour bridge 24/7 until construction of a wider, safer crossing is complete in early 2014. Drivers can expect minor delays.

The speed limit on this section of SR 105 remains 25 mph throughout construction. Drivers should use caution when traveling through the work zone.

Shifting traffic allows crews to demolish the existing 54-year-old wooden bridge from Smith Creek and construct a wider, safer bridge, built to withstand coastal flooding and a 1,000-year earthquake event. Crews are building a similar crossing on SR 105 over North River, just west of Smith Creek.
