South Bend, WA – On January 24th, Sheriff Scott Johnson accepted the keys to a 1996 20 foot Almar jet boat gifted to the Sheriff’s Office by Cowlitz County Sheriff Mark Nelson. The boat was previously utilized by the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office as a multi-purpose patrol boat. The boat is fully functional and came with emergency equipment and will be utilized for various patrol missions and search and rescue missions within Pacific County. Members of the Pacific County Sheriff’s Office were able to test out the functionality of the boat during test drives on the Willapa River.

Sheriff Scott Johnson thanked Sheriff Mark Nelson, his agency and the Cowlitz County Commissioners for their gracious donation. Sheriff Johnson stated, “The addition of this vessel will obviously aid us with responding to incidents or emergencies only accessible by boat. We are truly appreciative of the generosity displayed by Cowlitz County and Sheriff Mark Nelson”. “We have people on staff who are trained boat operators, and we plan to train more.”
