Port of Grays Harbor to Hold Workshop on Crude-By-Rail Export

Aberdeen, WA - The Port of Grays Harbor will hold an informational workshop later this month on crude-by-rail, and how exporting crude oil could affect the Port. The idea met opposition almost immediately after two companies expressed interest in November. Port Executive Director Gary Nelson said "this is not part of any permitting process, it's really just an outreach of project proponents, rail providers, and the Governor's office to educate people about not just the project but the potential impacts."
The meeting will take place Wednesday January 30th, 5:30 pm at the Aberdeen Rotary Log Pavilion. Nelson said he expects representatives from Imperium Renewables, US Development, Westway Terminals, Puget Sound and Pacific Railroads, and the Governor's Office of Regulatory Assistance - a lead agency on Environmental permitting. Greater Grays Harbor Inc. will also be present to show the potential economical impacts.
