Alissa Thurman named Manager of Business Development, Satsop Business Park

Aberdeen, WA – With the consolidation of Satsop Business Park into the facilities of the Port of Grays Harbor right around the corner, the Port is pleased to announce Alissa Thurman will be joining the senior management team as the Manager of Business Development, Satsop Business Park.

Ms. Thurman holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Evergreen State College, a Bachelor’s in Planning and Environmental Policy from Western Washington University and has served as the City Planner at the City of Hoquiam for the past five and half years. She will be responsible for business development and operations, working with the existing staff at the Park as CEO Tami Garrow looks to retire in March 2013.

During her tenure with the City of Hoquiam, Alissa led a number of community development initiatives ranging from recruiting new businesses to the downtown core, to beautification and park development projects.

“Ms. Thurman’s experience with project implementation, including her proven ability to write and secure grant funding, will lend itself well to the diverse public and private partnerships that exist at the Park,” expressed Ms. Garrow. “As a resident of Hoquiam, I have observed her strong customer service skills working with our local businesses and citizens, and I am confident she will be an excellent fit for the Satsop Business Park. I could not be more pleased.”

Port Executive Director Gary Nelson added “We are excited to welcome Alissa to the team and
are confident her experience, knowledge and work ethic will be a good fit for achieving the
goals we are hoping to accomplish with the addition of Satsop to the Port’s lines of business“ .
Ms. Thurman will begin her position with the Port on January 3, 2013.

Founded in 1911, the Port of Grays Harbor is one of Washington State’s oldest port districts and
Washington’s only deep-water port located directly on the Pacific Ocean. The Port of Grays
Harbor operates 4 deepwater marine terminals, the Westport Marina, Bowerman Airport and
numerous industrial and business parks throughout the region. The addition of Satsop Business
Park increases the Port’s properties to more than 1,000 acres of industrial properties and an
additional 1,300 acres of sustainably managed forestland. Strategically located midway
between Seattle and Portland and less than 1 ½ hour from open sea, the Port of Grays Harbor
provides businesses a diverse portfolio of facilities. More information on the Port of Grays
Harbor’s facilities and operations is available at portofgraysharbor.com.
