Reed Composite Solutions Donates Armor to local S.W.A.T.

ABERDEEN, Wash. - Reed Composite Solutions will celebrate its grand opening tomorrow on the port industrial route, Co-founder Ryan Reed said "It's kind of our unveiling to the community. We've been here for about 5 months, but we want to officially open our doors and have people in. We've got suppliers and customers coming in from across the country, but really it's about the community."
Ryan Reed RCSThe company will also donate 10 sets of the tactical body armor that they manufacture to the local SWAT team, in the memory of slain Hoquiam Officer Donald M. Burke.
Reed said utilizing the Port of Grays Harbor's Coastal Innovation Zone, he's already found partnerships that benefit his products "Typically [with] products like that in the industry, the focus is the ballistic protection. But because of the value-add with Paneltech's resin system and the way that we manufacture, it's also a structural composite. So if you're building a safe room it can not only protect the room, it can be either structural or insulated or both."
Aberdeen Police Chief Bob Torgerson told his council last week, they were actually the first customers of RCS "Reed Composite makes ballistic resistant material, you have installed that in your court. We were one of the very first customers of Reed Composite in our area to do that."
Reed introduced his company to Port Commissioners in June with an aggressive expansion plan. Starting with about 10, Reed hopes to offer 30 to 50 manufacturing jobs within the next three years.
