Artic, WA - Heavy rains have caused the ground under a section of US 101 to slide, creating large cracks in the pavement at milepost 72 near Artic in Grays Harbor County. As a result, the Washington State Department of Transportation has reduced the speed limit through the area from 55 miles per hour to 35 miles per hour until further notice. Portable variable-message-sign have been installed to warn motorists to slow down as they drive through the area. The Smith Creek Road to North River also experienced some washout, county crews have marked at least one area where the shoulder and part of the road have sunken. Drive cautious this week as city, county, and state crews make road repairs. The Grays Harbor County Emergency Management Agency reports the following road closures: *Third street in Ocosta is closed due to a hyperactive beaver, and will not reopen as part the recovery from this weather event. Grays Harbor will see a break, forecasters expect cool, dry weather with patchy fog in Washington through midweek. The National Weather Service says widespread rain and mountain snow will return midweek and stay through the weekend.
