A Message From The Grays Harbor County Emergency Management Agency

Montesano, WA - Deputy Director Chuck Wallace released the following message this afternoon:

The storms have let up a bit today after dumping between 4-6 inches of rain throughout the county over the last 2 days. There have been many issues with lowland flooding and street flooding in some communities, as well as sinkholes and landslides affecting many roads. Fallen trees and downed power lines were frequent.

Thank you to all of the response agencies, 911 dispatchers, the PUD workers and to all of public works and roads employees who braved the elements to insure our comfort and safety.

The National Weather Service has projected that the Chehalis River will crest at the FLOOD STAGE level of 21 feet at Porter tomorrow. Minor flooding is expected the low lying pastures and roadways.

There will be a brief respite from the severe weather giving us time to prepare for the next event. The rain will continue to fall but have little impact on rivers and flooding. The National Weather Service is tracking another storm which is approaching and could create stormy conditions late on Thanksgiving through Friday.
