WESTPORT, Wash. - Police have arrested an accused rapist who fled the state to avoid two felony warrants for rape of a child in Westport. Chief Criminal Deputy Steve Shumate with the Grays Harbor County Sheriffs Department tells us an arrest warrant was issued for the 19 year old after an alleged relationship with a 13 year old Westport girl was reported last July.
In September, the sheriff’s department investigated another matter where the man allegedly had a sexual relationship with a 14 year old girl. Shumate said he fled the State of Washington shortly after the second investigation was revealed. Investigators had been actively pursuing leads as to his whereabouts when Westport Police located him back in Westport.
The suspect is being charged with one count of Rape of a Child 2nd degree and one count of Rape of a Child 3rd degree. He was arrested and transported to the Grays Harbor County Jail.
