Seattle, WA - Keeping in line with the agency’s commitment to openness and transparency, the Washington State Department of Transportation has published a new website, giving access to State Route 520 pontoon videos, interviews and correspondence.

The new site is a go-to resource for the latest information on pontoon and floating bridge construction. Additional information and resources available on the site include:

  • A new presentation that provides an overview of floating bridge work completed to date, the first cycle of pontoon construction and how we’re addressing challenges encountered, and our plans for future pontoon construction cycles.
  • A 25-minute-long media interview with Transportation Secretary Paula Hammond.
  • Pontoon-related questions and responses.
  • Pontoon inspection videos – more than 45 hours of raw, unedited inspection videos recorded in Aberdeen, Tacoma and on Lake Washington.

“There is a lot of public interest in our project and pontoon construction, so we have created a place where people can get a big-picture overview, then dive into the details if they wish,” said Julie Meredith, SR 520 program director. “We are confident in our work, and our ability to address any issues that arise during construction.”
