Second Arrest in Bogus Bills Investigation

Montesano, WA - Investigators have located and arrested the girlfriend of a pair allegedly passing fake $100 bills in Grays Harbor County. Chief Criminal Deputy Steve Shumate tells us the 41 year old girlfriend of a man already in custody was located in Rochester and arrested Wednesday. She was booked into the Grays Harbor County Jail for forgery. With the assistance of the secret service, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in Rochester, and on a vehicle in Centralia.
Investigators with the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Department and the Montesano Police department have been working on the recent passing of fraudulent $100.00 bills. These bills had been passed at several business’ in the county to include: Brady Food Mart, Thriftway of Montesano, Dennis Company in Montesano, and possibly a few businesses in Aberdeen. Investigators eventually arrested a 54 year old transient from Lewis County. This individual, Joseph C. Uphold, has since been charged with forgery. The girlfriend is expected to be formally charged today.
