Deputy Involved Shooting in Lewis County

Boistfort, WA - A deputy with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office shot and killed a 64 year old Napavine man this morning. The deputy was on routine patrol when he noticed a vehicle parked in a turn out in the 2300 block of SR6 in Boistfort. The deputy stopped to see if the motorist needed assistance. When the deputy approached the vehicle he observed a man with, what appeared to be, self-inflicted lacerations and bleeding heavily. When the deputy tried to speak with the man, the man lunged out of his vehicle with a large knife and charged the deputy.

The deputy, a 9 year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office, was forced to shoot the man to avoid being attacked with the knife. The  Sheriff’s Office saif the deputy called aid for the man, however, he was pronounced dead shortly after aid arrived at the scene.

The regional Sheriff’s Critical Incident Investigation team is at the scene investigating the incident.

The Lewis County Coroner’s Office will release the deceased mans’ name per their policy.
