First General Election Update Delayed in Grays Harbor County

Montesano, WA - Election result updates in Grays Harbor County will be delayed next month, due to a pre-scheduled furlough day. County Auditor Vern Spatz reminded stakeholders yesterday that November 9th, the Friday following the election, is a scheduled, unpaid, furlough day for a portion of our county including his office. Normally, the next work day would be Monday, November 12th. However, the county will be closed in observance of Veteran's Day.

The initial tally should be posted to the Grays Harbor County Auditor's website around 8PM on November 6th, however Spatzs said the first ballot count update will not occur for Grays Harbor County until sometime Tuesday, November 13th, one week after the election.

The furlough day was scheduled by the Board of County Commissioners to meet budgetary needs for 2012. Spatz said "since this may cause concern in the event of a tight local, state, or national race I felt it necessary to provide an advance notice reminder to as many stakeholders as possible."
