7th Street Theatre Celebrates Candlestick Sign Lighting Tuesday

Hoquiam, WA - The historic 7th Street Theatre in downtown Hoquiam will have an official lighting of their new neon candlestick sign at 7:00 pm, Tuesday night. 

The sign was historically replicated using photos from the Jones Photo Historical Collection. The theatre was built in 1928 and this sign is modeled after the original which was mounted on the northwest corner. In the 1940s the sign vanished, not appearing on any of the Jones photos after 1947.

The theatre, a nonprofit, has been raising funds for this sign for the past three years. Board president Ray Kahler and Vice-president Mickey Thurman will each speak about the project, and Mayor Jack Durney will do the official countdown. The sign will be lit every evening beginning at dusk.
