Fire Prevention Week Continues - Have Two Ways Out

Aberdeen, WA - Fire Prevention week comes to an end tomorrow, Aberdeen Fire Chief Tom Hubbard reminds residents "They recommend at least one smoke detector in your home. That is what is going to save your life because they will detect the smoke early, alert you, and out you go. Which is the second part about escape plans, if your family doesn't know what to do when it goes off, they're going to panic go the wrong direction, do the wrong thing. So the escape plan is really critical."

Have a Plan

This year's theme is "Have Two Ways Out," The National Fire Prevention Association says when fire strikes, your home could be engulfed in smoke and flames in just a few minutes.
It is important to have an escape plan that prepares your family to think fast and get out quickly when the smoke alarm sounds.
What if your first escape route is blocked by smoke or flames? That's why having two ways out is such a key part of your plan. This year’s theme, focuses on the importance of fire escape planning and practice.
