Hoquiam, WA - Officers responded to the report of a robbery at the Hoquiam McDonald’s Restaurant yesterday, Deputy Chief Don Wertanen tells us It was reported a male subject was in the restaurant pointing a gun at patrons.
Officers arrived just before 4 Wednesday, and were told by witnesses the man was last seen running on 25th Street towards Pacific Avenue. Officers located the subject and arrested him on outstanding warrants, detaining him for investigation of the reported Robbery. Wertanen said At the time he was contacted no handgun was located.
Officers contacted an eye witness and the victim of the reported robbery and learned the incident did not occur at the restaurant, but at a residence in the 2400 block of Simpson Avenue and the victim had drove to the restaurant parking lot to wait for the police.
The victim, a 31-year old Tumwater man and witness were interviewed and both identified the suspect and said that he had used a small caliber pistol during the incident. Further information was obtained that the attempted robbery was over drugs and all parties involved were known to each other.

The suspect, a 28-year old Aberdeen man was arrested on outstanding warrant and investigation of Robbery. The man was later booked into the county jail.
An extensive search was conducted by officers in attempts to locate the described weapon allegedly used during the incident.
Officers searched the area on foot with the assistance of the Aberdeen Police Department’s K-9 team and also used a metal detector to search areas where the weapon may have been hidden.
