School In Session After Fire Destroys Montesano Stadium

Montesano, WA - Investigators with Montesano Fire say the stadium of the high school will likely be a complete loss after a fire engulfed the grandstands last night.
Chairman of the Montesano School Board Jack Dwyer said school is in session today "We're most grateful to the Montesano Fire and Police Department for their tremendous efforts last evening. We had a devastating fire at our stadium, however our gymnasium was saved by their valiant efforts and we are grateful to them."
Dwyer said the district did not yet know the impact to their sports programs, but that either way; "We want our people to know that we will rebuild. Montesano tradition is alive and we will rebuild the stadium and we will rebuild the tradition."
The fire was first reported around 10 p.m. last night, and was fully involved as firefighters arrived. Fire Chief Cury Rux reported no injuries, and no immediate cause, investigators are on scene this morning.
