ABERDEEN, Wash. - The Aberdeen Fire Department welcomed it's first female firefighter this morning. Fire Chief Dave Carlberg tells us Monica Myers started today "We're very happy to have Mrs. Myers join the department. She's going to be a great asset for us, and we're looking forward to what she can bring to us." Carlberg said this is the first time in it's 122 year history that a female firefighter has joined their ranks.
Myers is a graduate of Tacoma Community College and comes from the Montesano Fire Department, where she served as a volunteer lieutenant. Myers lives in Montesano with her husband Jeff.
