Fire Destroys Mill at Mary's River Lumber

Montesano, WA- City, and Fire District 2 units are working to contain a blaze at Mary's River Lumber tonight that has already levelled the mill off of State Route 107 in Montesano. The Department of Transportation closed 107 near Minkler road for several hours just after 9 Saturday night, County Sheriff's Deputies were stopping people at the Highway 12 offramp. Flames and smoke were visible for miles from Highway 12 tonight, as crews worked to contain the fire to the mill structure, which is described as a total loss.

The Department of Transportation reports the roadway is fully blocked in the area near the fire, however a detour route is in place.

Fire crews do not know yet what caused the blaze, Approximately 130 people are employed at Mary's River Lumber.
