Internet Filtering Policy Unchanged in Public Libraries

Olympia, WA - Internet filtering at your local library will be staying the same, for now. Board Trustee John Braun yesterday likened the more nefarious corners of the internet to a pornography section, which you won't find at your local library either, "The fact that we don't offer it doesn't mean we are censoring anything, we just just are not offering it."
The Timberland Regional Library Board of Trustees met yesterday in Westport. The group discussed codifying the 2004 policy of internet filtering on public computers in libraries throughout Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, and Thurston counties.
The discussion was tabled to committee, and is expected to return to the board in the coming months, members of the board agreed that the current practice doesn't match the 2004 policies.
