Posted by David Haviland on July 28, 2012 at 3:30 pm (534 social interactions)

Aberdeen, WA - First responders had to get a man hoist working again before they could get to an electrocuted contract worker semi-conscious just below active lines on 1st street today. Captain Jr. Streifel tells us crews were able to get the motor to the man hoist working and get the patient half way from the power lines to the ground, rescue was accomplished with a 24 foot ladder and the patient's safety harness.
The Aberdeen Fire Department transported the man to Community Hospital with life threatening injuries, he was later airlifted to Harborview Medical Center.
Liz Anderson with the Grays Harbor PUD tells us crews were called to the area in response to an outage impacting about 40 customers around 11 Saturday morning. The PUD's preliminary investigation indicated that a contractor working on a lift in the area came into contact with a power line.
Power was restored to the area just before 2pm.
