Aberdeen, WA - An Aberdeen man may face two fines after riding his bicycle into a 1996 Dodge Caravan yesterday. Det. Sgt. Art Laur tells us on July 25th at about 5:06pm, Aberdeen Police Officers were dispatched to the area of the 300 Block of North Washington Street regarding a vehicle vs. bicycle collision.

Investigation has determined that a 42 year old Aberdeen resident was bicycling eastbound in the alley when he attempted to cross Washington St, colliding with a vehicle which was N/B on Washington. This vehicle (a 1996 Dodge Caravan) was driven by a 62 year old Hoquiam resident.

The rider was ejected from his bicycle, striking his head on the ground. He was not wearing a helmet at the time. The rider was transported by the Aberdeen Fire Department to the Grays Harbor Community Hospital. His current medical condition is unknown.

Laur said at this point in the investigation it is likely that the bicycle rider will be cited for two (2) infractions, one for failing to yield the right of way from an alley and the second for failing to wear a bicycle helmet.
