Printing of The Daily World moving to Centralia

Posted by Candi Bosarge on July 18, 2012 at 1:53 pm (387 social interactions)

Aberdeen, WA- The Daily World announced today that the newspaper is outsourcing its printing functions to the Chronicle Printing Division in Centralia.

These changes will be effective August 1st. The announcement was made to the newspaper’s employees on Tuesday.

The change means the layoff of seven employees in the printing and distribution part of the operation.  “I regret losing honest, hardworking folks that I have come to know,” said Daily World Publisher Bill Crawford

The newspaper’s press is more than 40 years old and near the end of its useful life, Crawford said.

The press will also offer the possibility for color ads and images on more pages, compared to the limitations of color placement on The Daily World’s press. The Daily World also will be focusing on their websites and social networking to save on costs.
