Vintage Explosives Discovered in Aberdeen Garage

On July 16th, 2012 at about 6:55PM Aberdeen Officers were dispatched to the 2700 Block of Wishkah Road regarding explosives which had been discovered inside a garage. Detective Art Laur with the Aberdeen Police Department tells us these explosives were described as a US Military 20mm HEI (High Explosive Incendiary) round and 4 artillery simulators. They were believed to be of the Vietnam era.

The location was secured and the Washington State Patrol was alerted. Technicians from the WSP Bomb Squad responded and safely removed the devices for disposal. An Aberdeen Fire Department ambulance crew was on scene at the time as a precaution.
