OCEAN SHORES, Wash. - The Surf Rescue Team plucked a 13 year old from Ocean Shores waters yesterday, Deputy Chief Russ Fitz with the Ocean Shores Police department tells KBKW at approximately 3:45 PM, Ocean Shores officer Chris Iversen was on patrol near the North Jetty. Iversen, a member of the Ocean Shores Police Surf Rescue Team, saw the girl in distress about 150 feet from shore.
Iversen activated the Surf Rescue Team and began to put on his surf rescue equipment as other team members were responding with personal watercraft. Fitz said the 13 year old Federal Way girl began to go underwater as Iversen entered the water and and brought her back to shore.
The victim was treated by the Ocean Shores Fire Department and transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital. The girl had been down at the beach with family members for the weekend.
