Westport, WA - The 10th annual Rusty Scupper Pirate Daze to be held the weekend of June 22 is a family friendly festival where, pirates, wenches, and scallywags rub elbows with regular folks. Vendors, entertainers, dozens of pirate groups, and big ships and little have made this the largest pirate festival on the western coast. Rusty Scupper’s Pirate Daze opens Friday with pirates invading Westport. Watch the Hawaiian Chieftain tall ship come into port and see her crew take over the town. Bands of pirates from over the northwest will sail to Westport from Aberdeen on the Hawaiian Chieftain, staging ‘sword fights’ and mini-brig sea battles in the marina between rival bands of pirates all weekend! New this year is a fireworks display Saturday night, preceded by music and Fire Dancers.

According to event coordinator, Rosie Litterer, hundreds of locals and visitors dress in pirate-period costumes for discounts and prizes, and to enter the ‘Wenches and Scalliwags’ costume contest and the Jack Sparrow look-alike contest. Entry fee for contests is a can of food for the local food bank (may be purchased at festival). Kids will love the games in Scallywag Alley, train rides all day, What-A-Croc sword balloons. Paying their first visit this year will be the Lost Boys Pirates, with Aayo the Barbarian Pirate, playing boffers with the children all weekend down by the tower. The Lost Boys also have a working blacksmith, there’s the traditional BOOM Black Powder demonstration, Scottie & the Grey Beards will perform acoustic music off the pirate ship, The Sun Of The Morning Star, plus lots of live music and entertainment for the whole family!
