KAHS Recognized at Washington State High School Radio Awards

KAHS Recognized at Washington State High School Radio Awards

Aberdeen, WA - After being beat by Peninsula High School last year, Nathan Hale High School of Seattle recaptured the state title in overall radio excellence at the 2012 Washington State High School Radio Awards Thursday May 17th in Gig Harbor WA. Aberdeen High School’s very own KAHS placed second, while Peninsula placed third. Students from all over the state submitted their best of works and were judged by professionals from industry professional throughout Washington State including KJET’s very own Johnny Manson.

Leading the way for the KAHS was AHS Junior Jenna Prater. Jenna took second at state in “Best Feature Story,” “Best Underwriter Announcement” and was part of the second place “Team Newscast,” which also featured fellow classmates Nicole Tanselli, Bubba Mullikin and Sidney Fenn. Jenna also placed third at state in “Best Sports Broadcast.”

Also garnering honors were Bobcat freshman Daniel Sipe, who took second at state in “Best Commentary,” and Senior Karmen Ayres taking third at state in “Best Individual Newscast.”
