Ocean Park, WA - An Ilwaco High School student may have perished overnight in an Ocean Park house fire. Pacific County Chief Criminal Deputy Pat Matlock tells us at about midnight last night, the Pacific County Communications Center received a report of a residence on fire in the 2200 block of 177th lane in the Ocean Park area of Pacific County. Pacific County Fire District One personnel were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, District One personnel began suppression of the fire and interviewed two people that had been inside the residence when the fire started. District One personnel discovered that an additional person may have still been inside the residence and was unaccounted for.
After further suppression of the scene, District One personnel located the remains of a human body inside the residence. Matlock said the remains were thought to be that of the student, pending positive identification from the Coroner’s Office.

The Pacific County Sheriff’s Office and investigators from the Pacific County Fire District One are jointly investigating the scene and any evidence present to determine a cause and origin of the fire.
