Small Business Administration to Host HUBZone in Satsop

Posted by David Haviland on May 2, 2012 at 10:00 am (323 social interactions)

Elma, WA - On Tuesday, May 8, the U.S. Small Business Administration will host a free HUBZone education and training event at the Satsop Business Park near Elma. SBA’s Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) Initiative is designed to introduce small businesses to the program, help determine eligibility, and support business participation. Local small business resource organizations will also be there including Greater Grays Harbor, Inc., Small Business Development Centers and Procurement Technical Assistance Center.

In Fiscal Year 2010, HUBZone firms were awarded approximately $12 billion in prime contracting opportunities, including approximately $3 billion in HUBZone set-asides. This spring, SBA will be conducting 68 HUBZone Outreach Initiatives at its District Offices around the country. The HUBZone Outreach Initiative will encourage businesses to participate in the HUBZone program, which promotes economic development in geographic regions that have been historically underutilized as business zones.
