Thurston County Sheriff Warns; Gas Theft Might Rise

Posted by David Haviland on March 7, 2012 at 6:40 am (342 social interactions)

Olympia, WA - Sheriff John Snaza is warning the citizens of Thurston County that with the rise in gas prices in recent weeks, there is a potential for thieves to begin stealing it. Snaza tells us "In the past our office has successfully investigated organized groups of thieves who were taking gas in large quantities."

The Thurston County Sheriff's Office reminds Washington drivers to make sure that your car has a locking gas cap and that you park in a secure area whenever possible.

Snaza said "Having a well lit parking area at your home is a good deterrent, as is making sure that you don’t leave other valuables within plain sight. The thief stealing your gas might very well continue with an entry into your car if they see something else of value."
