WA Department of Health Seeks Board Members

Posted on March 2, 2012 at 8:10 am (348 social interactions)

Olympia, WA - State health officials are accepting applications for open positions on the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission through the end of April.

In addition to recruiting a member of the general public, the state Department of Health is accepting applications for two positions to be filled by nurses. The governor appoints nursing commission members to serve four-year terms. The open positions will become available July 1. Health officials are interested in recruiting applicants for one registered nurse and one licensed practical nurse.

The Governor’s Office is looking for diversity in commission membership and recognizes the value it brings in understanding and serving the people of Washington. Applications are available on the governor's website (www.governor.wa.gov/boards/default.asp) or by contacting the commission’s Deputy Executive Director Terry West at 360-236-4712.

The nursing commission’s responsibilities include making and reviewing policies, writing advisory opinions and rules, reviewing investigations, participating in disciplinary hearings and charging panels, and providing technical assistance to students and licensees. It meets for one to two days, about six times a year. Members are paid $250 a day and are reimbursed for travel expenses.

The state Department of Health has opportunities to serve on other boards, commissions, and committees. Contact Lisa Hodgson at 360-236-2927.
