Aberdeen High School's very own radio station, The KAHS 106.5FM, attended the Washington State High School Radio Broadcasting Awards in Gig Harbor WA, Thursday May 14th and came away with many honors. Schools from around the state had submitted their best works last month and were judged by professionals in the Seattle and Tacoma media industry.

The KAHS received 3rd place at state for overall excellence.

In the Best Individual Sports Broadcasting category, Aberdeen Junior Jake Prater walked away with the state title for his Weekly Sports Wrap that covered the Aberdeen-Hoquiam football game. Aberdeen Sophomore Jake Blood placed second at state in the Best Individual Newscast category. And finally the team of Jake Prater, Jake Blood, Raquel Nelson and Sierra Fenn placed third at state in the Best Team Newscast category.

Aberdeen's third place finish is an improvement over last year's fourth place finish. Aberdeen finished behind State Champion Nathan Hale High School and runner up Peninsula High School.
