King Tides Hit Westport Streets

Westport, WA - King Tides caused major flooding in Westport yesterday, City Administrator Randy Lewis tells us it's not unusual to see water in Westport "but it was definitely one of the more significant events that we've had in a while. It actually got up over the sidewalks but didn't appear to get in to any of the buildings."
Lewis said 24 foot swells washed over the end of the marina, flooding about 4 blocks of the Marina around Westhaven Drive, Nyhus Street and Harms Drive.
King tides occur when both the moon and sun moon align, causing an increased gravitational pull on the Earth’s oceans, and are expected again today and tomorrow afternoon along the coast.
