Aberdeen Fire Department Warns "Bundle Up"

Posted by David Haviland on January 18, 2012 at 9:20 am (277 social interactions)

Aberdeen, WA - Grays Harbor County is experiencing a severe snow event that is impacting all parts of the county.  Mayor Simpson has ordered city hall closed with the exception of those personnel providing public safety services which includes Police, Jail, Fire and Street Departments.

The AFD has provided for additional staff on duty and has the entire fleet of apparatus equipped with traction tires or chains.  Road conditions around the city remain very hazardous, especially on the side streets.  The AFD has been coordinating with the street department to provide for continued access to GH Community Hospital on both Anderson Drive and Basich Blvd.  We are continuing to coordinate with the GH County EOC on road access issues to Olympia area Hospitals.

The AFD urges the public to not travel on the roads unless absolutely necessary.  We are anticipating the snowfall continuing throughout the morning along with the possibility of freezing rain.

Please DO NOT use portable generators, BBQ’s or any fossil fuel devices indoors or near any windows and doors.
