Hoquiam Homeowner Evicts Bear

Posted by David Haviland on January 16, 2012 at 6:50 am (457 social interactions)

HOQUIAM, Wash. - Friday the 13th for one Hoquiam resident involved evicting a bear from the porch of his East Hoquiam home. Department of Fish and Wildlife Sgt Matt Nixon tells KBKW officers Harry Cilk and Brian Alexander captured the small bear using a net. The bear was found to be in poor condition, and was kept overnight to re-hydrate it and assess its condition. The bear was later transferred to Enumclaw for rehabilitation and later release. Nixon said Officer Richards has developed techniques to rehabilitate young bears and successfully handled over 20 bears last year. If the bear can be returned to health, it will be rehabilitated and released.
