Westport Event Center Taking Shape

Westport, WA - The City of Westport is looking to check off another improvement on their 1993 Master Plan, Port of Grays Harbor Commissioners heard from City Administrator Randy Lewis at their regular meeting "One of the items in that plan was the concept of an activity building, and one of the things that was pointed out was that even in the summer times sometimes weather is an issue."
Westport Mayor Michael Bruce tells us they would like the event center built over Sue Hoffman Drive, or Carstenson Avenue "this has been on the books for many years, to have a pavilion where we could have events all year long. Have the doors open during great weather and have the doors closed when the wind is blowing and it's raining sideways."
Building costs are projected at around $500-thousand, most coming from lodging tax funds, the city hopes to have the new building by this summer.
