Aberdeen, WA - The STEM Program at Steven's School on the South side of Aberdeen is getting attention from administrator's nationwide, Principle Kathleen Werner tells us "It's pioneering because, you know I got to go to Washington D.C. with the Principal award, every principal that I talked to there, seventy of them, they're not doing STEM yet so they all [said] ‘tell me more.’"
Werner said her teachers went to school over the summer to build a teaching model that incorporates Science Technology, Engineering and Math in a way that prepares kids for life, not just for tests. "Everyone said they're so excited for it, for the kids, and the engagement that they've seen."
Werner was named Elementary Principal of 2011 by the Association of Washington School Principals. Her school has been implementing STEM since September.
