Supreme Court Rules State Isn't Funding Education Adequately

Seattle, WA (AP) - The Washington Supreme Court has ruled that the state isn't meeting its constitutional obligation to amply  pay for basic public education. However, the court says the Legislature is on the right track with the reforms it is making. The decision issued on Thursday says the court will leave the next steps up to lawmakers.

     The Legislature convenes next week for a 60-day session, and will also need to focus on what to do about a nearly billion dollar budget shortfall.
