Mason County Makes Arrest in Largest Child Pornography Investigation

Shelton, WA - The Mason County Sheriff’s Department made an arrest this week following a two year investigation into a 67 year old Belfair man's alleged possession of child pornography. Chief Deputy Dean Byrd tells us a tip from a family member launched the investigation of Donald Ryan Oars in April of 2009. Byrd said over one million images of small children, some engaged in sexual acts, were confiscated, “the collection may represent the largest child pornography investigation the Mason County Sheriff’s Office has ever conducted.”
Oars remains in custody with no bail, and is expected to make his first court appearance this morning.
