Ambulance Access to Gateway Plaza To Improve

Aberdeen, WA - It's a common question when you talk about the Gateway Plaza on the East side of Aberdeen, what if there's a big train and an emergency. The response has always been that railroad staff would break the trains apart. With Wal-Mart's upcoming expansion along the waterfront, response times are going to get a little shorter "part of the deal was that they provide us access under the trestle for that, so that is something that we are working on."

Community Development Director Lisa Scott explained at last month's city council meeting, trestle access behind the Guesthouse Inn is too low for fire trucks, but will allow ambulance access to the area when rail cars block the normal routes.
