The National Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors (NAUMD) named the Washington State Patrol and the Mississippi Highway Patrol as co-winners of the association’s 2008 Best Dressed Law Enforcement Agency award. This is the first time in the history of the competition two agencies were selected to share the award. It’s also the first time an agency has won in two consecutive years. Last year, WSP held the honor alone
“I am very proud of the men and women who wear the uniform of the Washington State Patrol,” said WSP Chief John R. Batiste. “I have seen the uniform of the Mississippi Highway Patrol, and am honored to be in their company.”
This News is a service of: The award is based on submission of entry with photographs, history and explanation of each of the different working uniforms worn by WSP These uniforms include traditional blues with campaign hat and bowtie; light blue shirt and navy blue trousers of the communications officer, grey shirt and black trousers of the Commercial Vehicle Division; and bicycle uniform worn by Capitol Campus Security. “It’s especially gratifying to win with the uniforms that employees actually wear on the job,” Batiste said. “When a member of the public contacts the state patrol, they know immediately they’re dealing with a professional.” For more information about our uniforms go to http://www.wsp.wa.gov/about/uniforms.htm
