Westport Yachts Help Westport Budget

WESTPORT, Wash. - In much the same way you might say Aberdeen was buoyed by the state's Pontoon construction site, Westport Mayor Michael Bruce says the 2012 budget, adopted at Tuesday’s city council meeting, was buoyed by ships "Budgeting was a little bit easier this time, because the Westport Shipyard is building yachts again."
Bruce said the city hopes to fill one of two vacant positions with the increased B&O taxes from the luxury yacht maker "We expect to fill the police position in 2012, but probably not the streets position."
Business has picked up at Westport Shipyard, still listing multiple job openings on their website at www.westportyachts.com
