High Surf Advisory During Clam Dig Today

Posted by David Haviland on December 23, 2011 at 9:40 am (403 social interactions)

Montesano, WA - The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a High Surf Advisory for the Washington Coast from 4pm today until 6am on Saturday morning. Waves are expected to grow to 22 feet. There is a scheduled Clam Dig for coastal locations at the same time.

Grays Harbor County Emergency Management is urging all citizens and visitors to the area harbors and beaches to be extremely cautious for the possibility of arriving large waves. The waves will travel much farther up the beaches during this time. Rip tides and beach erosion are common during these High Surf events. DO NOT TURN YOUR BACK TO THE SEA! Waves will be large enough to move vehicles and knock down clam diggers along the surf line. Waves could knock a person from rocks and jetties as well as carry a person out to sea.
