Murky Budget Future For Sheriff's Department

Montesano, WA - The Grays Harbor County Commissioners will vote on a 2012 budget at their December 5th meeting, with every department facing cuts, Sheriff Mike Wheelan says until that date, he's waiting to know what parts of his budget could come under the knife. "What I do know, right now, is that the Sheriff's office is going to loose 7 positions that we had this year going into next year." Wheelan said two open corrections officers, one deputy sheriff, and an one administrative position will not be filled next year, one detective is retiring, and two cooks are being laid off from the county jail.
