Montesano Timber Purchase Completes This Week

MONTESANO, Wash. - New timberland in Montesano, tomorrow the city will close on the first timber purchase in over 80 years with the purchase of 112 acres of Douglas Fir near West Simpson Avenue. City Finance Director Kristi Powell said last week "We're buying for our future, we're planning for our children." The council approved the purchase in September, Powell said the property will be harvestable in 20 to 25 years.
